Everyone at Knock Knock school works hard studying and practicing English, but what if you want to during a holiday? Here are a few ideas of ways to add in a little English practice to fun activities!

If you like art…
Draw pictures and comics, but try writing the words in English. Even writing names next to drawings helps a lot, for instance names of animals or cars.
If you like writing…
Keep a journal! Try to write short sentences about your day, what you did, or anything you like!
Write down words you see in English every day. Have you gone past a convenience store like Family Mart or Lawson today? There is a chance you have seen words in English, whether it is a company name or a store. You can record new words you see in English, and writing can help with remembering spelling rules as well!
If you like music…
Listen to music in English! Listening is important for learning new things, and you might pick up the sentences or phrases that are used in the song as well. You can take it one step further by learning to sing a song you love in English! Practice saying it slowly first if you are having trouble, and gradually raise the speed until you can sing along with your favorite English language songs!
If you like social media…
Try looking up articles on social media in English! You can even change the display language as well, but make sure you know how to change it back! You can also try reading articles or online newspapers in English as well.
Use a web translator! Sometimes the translations are not the clearest, but web translation like Google Translate is very helpful for learning a word you don’t know!
If you like watching videos…
Watch or stream videos in English! There are many videos in English on youtube, just look up what you are interested in and try to find a video you like! There are settings on Youtube for instance to slow down videos as well as add subtitles, if it is hard to understand.
Watch your favorite movies in English! Many movies and tv programs have dubs in different languages, and some are done in English. If you know the story of a movie you like, you can pick up the words related to the story in English as well by listening. You can also practice writing the story of the movie after you’re done, it’s a fun way to practice writing as well!

The most important thing is to have fun! I have used methods like these to practice learning foreign languages in high school and college, but they might not work for everyone. Get creative and make sure you have fun doing it!
